AL leader hacked dead in Kushtia

A local influential leader of ruling Awami League was hacked to death by miscreants in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia on Saturday morning.

The deceased was identified as Hasinur Rahman (56), son of Jamir Uddin and a cousin of Kushtia-1 MP AKM Sarwar Jahan.

Nishikanto Roy, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said that Hasinur came under attack by the miscreants near a mosque of Pacshim-Dakhkhin Filip Nagar area around 8:00am when he was out for his morning walk. The miscreants attacked using sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.

Locals took him to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex where the on duty doctors declared him dead.

Daulatpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Towhidur Rahman said Hasinur was being sent to Kushtia Sadar Hospital as his physical condition deteriorated. But he died before he was sent to hospital.
