The ruling Awami League (AL) has started electoral campaign ahead of the next general election, slated for January 2024. Addressing a mammoth gathering at Khulna Circuit House ground, Sheikh Hasina, the President of the ruling Awami League, urged the people to vote for her party’s election symbol “Boat” to give her government another chance to serve the nation. The gathering at the venue and its surrounding areas, including lanes and by lanes, turned into a vast human sea as people from all strata including leaders and activists of the Awami League, its front and associate bodies from Khulna and its adjoining districts thronged in thousands to see and hear the prime minister.

Sheikh Hasina, the elder daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said her government is working tirelessly so that the country could stay in the world arena with self-dignity. So, the ruling Awami League has been able to put Bangladesh’s economy on a strong footing though the entire world is experiencing the economic recession due to the Covid-19, Russia-Ukraine war, sanctions and counter sanctions.

The electoral campaign is seen very significant as Sheikh Hasina’s address will rejuvenate her party networks from top to bottom and further strengthen its organisational activities across the country. So, the Awami League will have to be made stronger and organised.

The party has also completed about four years and 11 months of tenure of the third straight term government amid the coronavirus pandemic coupled with Russia-Ukraine war, different natural disasters and conspiracies. Sheikh Hasina is serving as the prime minister for the third consecutive term after her party won the 11th parliamentary election by a landslide on Dec 30, 2018.

Awami League will

 have to be made

stronger and organised

No leader in the country’s political history has been at the helm for such a long time. So, she wants to make her party stronger especially at the grassroots level ahead of the 12 the parliamentary election.

In this regard, the concerned leaders of the party will have to make their strides to remove all sorts of internal wrangling in all organisational units across the country ahead of the forthcoming national election. The Awami League, the oldest and largest political party of Bangladesh, will have to be built as more well-organised and smarter right now to get ready for responding to any conspiracy hatched against the country and its people.

Besides, the party under the leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter will also have to be committed to upholding the democratic spirit at any cost right now. It has been observed especially in the last three years when many foreign countries are suffering a deep economic recession caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and Russia-Ukraine war, Bangladesh is tackling the situation with making the right decision and doing the right thing throughout

the year.

On the other hand, as the election is approaching, Bangabandhu’s killers, plotters at Tarique Rahman’s political office Hawa Bhaban, some rightists, leftists and extreme leftists and Jamaat-e-Islami led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party are out to grab state power using the backdoor. They are also resorting to falsehood to misguide the people.

But, braving all sorts of plots, hurdles and odds, the ruling Awami League continued pulling the country towards development following the ideology and footsteps of Bangabandhu. Therefore, we believe Sheikh Hasina’s upcoming electoral campaigns will unite the countrymen to take a fresh oath to build the nation imbued with the spirit of the Liberation War.

Therefore, Bangladesh will be smart, developed, prosperous, modern knowledge-based ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
