The elections to Mohangonj and Kendua municipalities in Netrakona were held amid much enthusiasms on Saturday (January 16)

Upazila AL and existing Mayor of Mohangonj municipality, was elected mayor for the 4th term. According to the unofficial result, he secured 9445 votes while his nearest AL rebel candidate Tahmima Parvin Bithi obtained 4384 votes. A total of 72℅ votes were cast in the municipality elections.
On the other hand Md Asadul Hoque Bhuyan, secretary of Kendua Upazila Awami League and existing Mayor, was reelected for 2nd term, securing 9176 votes while his nearest candidate BNP’s Shafiqul Islam obtained 2256 votes. A total of 70.45 % votes were cast in the election.
Kazi Abdur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Netrakona, said that the turnout of voters in the Mohangonj and Kendua municipality elections was satisfactory. The elections were held in free and fair manner, he added.
