The ruling Awami League, along with all of its affiliate organisations, on Monday remained vigilant in capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country like in the past so that BNP and its like minded parties or vested quarters could not create anarchy in the name of movement.
They held several peace rallies including at Bangabandhu Avenue, Shahbagh, Central Shaheed Minar, Farmgate and at different other places.
At the rallies, the ruling party leaders vowed to protect the country and its people from violence and also to face the opposition parties on the streets.
The policymakers of the Awami League earlier had decided to remain alert and keep vigilance everywhere during the programmes of the BNP so that the party could not get any chance to destabilise the peaceful situation of the country.
As part of the decision, the Awami League, its different affiliate organisations, including Jubo League and Chhatra League, held separate rallies like they did earlier on January 11.
Witnesses said that the leaders, activists and supporters of the ruling party had gathered at different strategic points since the morning. They brought out processions and held rallies.
While addressing a rally held at Bangabandhu Avenue, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader urged everyone to be united against any conspiracy of BNP-Jamaat.
Quader said, if anyone wants to play with fire, it will not be tolerated.
He also said that the ruling party will continue such types of peace rallies in future.
And Awami League joint general secretary Dr. Hassan Mahmud said, if BNP does not come to the election again, then they will vanish into thin air.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of Jubo League held a rally at Farmgate while the South unit of Jubo League held another rally at Central Shaheed Minar of the capital.
Besides, Bangladesh Chhatra League brought out a procession at Dhaka University campus and held a rally in Shahbagh area.
