At least 14 aspirants from Awami League have applied to contest for the post of Mayor Lakshmipur Municipality. Those 14 candidates submitted their applications seeking to be nominees from the party at an extended meeting of Luxmipur Municipal Awami League held at a local restaurant on Saturday.
Failed to take any decision in selecting the candidate, Lakshmipur district and the Municipal AL leaders have decided to send names of all expectant candidates to the central leaders of AL.
Presided over by Ismael Hossain, President of Luxmipur Municipality AL, the meeting was conducted by Jahir Uddin Babar where former Aviation Minister, local Member of Parliament AKM Shajahan Kamal attended as the chief guest. Among others, the meeting was attended by district AL President and the General Secretary Golam Faruk Pintu and Advocate Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan respectively, leaders of district and upazila AL and Councillors of the Municipality.
Among the nomination seekers for contesting the Mayoral post are": incmubment, three-time elected Mayor, former General Secretary of district AL Abu Taher, AL district Cultural Affairs Seceratary Mozammel Haider Masum Bhuiyan, former Municipal AL President Advocate Abul Bashar Bahar, Municipal AL President ismael Hossain, Municipal AL General Seceretary Advocate Zahir Uddin Babar, President of district Mohila AL Farida Yeasmin Lika, Industry and Commerce Affairs Secretary of district AL Delowar Hossain, forer disrict Jubo League Secretary Syed Saiful Islam Palash, district Agriculture Affairs Secertary Abdul Matlub and his brother Manik, former district Chhatra League Secretary Moniruzzaman Patwary and his brother Yousuf Patwary and Convener of district Shramik League Mamun-ur-Rashid.
