American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) student Iram Ajmain Mugdho has been selected for the prestigious “Study of the U.S Institutes (SUSI)” exchange program. The fully funded program is organized by the U.S. Department of State.
Mugdho, a first-year, third-semester student from the Department of English, will visit the University of Nevada, Reno, in the United States. He will join the month-long program, taking part in academic and cultural activities based on the theme ‘Natural Resources.’
His selection is considered a proud achievement for both AIUB and the country. Alongside his academic studies, Mugdho has been active in various social and leadership roles. He is currently serving as the Elected Youth Councillor of Rajshahi City Corporation, a post supported by UN-Habitat, UNDEF, the Ministry of Local Government, and SERAC-Bangladesh.
Mugdho is also a passionate human rights and social activist. He addressed the UN-HABITAT World Urban Forum 2024 as a virtual speaker, where he spoke about youth issues and urban challenges. In 2023, his team won the Divisional Champion title in the ‘imaGen Venture Youth Challenge,’ organized by UNICEF Bangladesh.
In addition, Mugdho is the Founder and CEO of The Smiling Foundation, an organization that works for orphan care, autism support, youth development, and climate change awareness. His leadership activities have already earned recognition, and he was honored with the 'International Leadership Award 2023' by Winning Move Events.
AIUB has congratulated Mugdho on this remarkable achievement and wished him continued success in his leadership and academic journey.
