The American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB) actively participated in the 37th Annual Conference of the Association of Universities of the Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), held from May 21 to 23, 2025, in Pasig City, Manila, Philippines. The prestigious event brought together 170 participants from 49 institutions across 15 countries in Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America.
This year, the AUAP marked three major milestones — the 9th AUAP Forum and Networking, the 36th Annual Conference, and the 30th Anniversary Celebration of AUAP. The conference focused on themes like global networking, institutional excellence, and sustainability in higher education.
Representing AIUB, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member of the AIUB Board of Trustees and former Vice Chancellor (1997-2023), attended the 55th AUAP Executive Board Meeting and the Advisory Council Meeting. Dr. Lamagna, who also served as AUAP President from 2008 to 2010, shared her experiences during the 30th Anniversary Celebration on May 23. She highlighted AUAP’s role in shaping international academic cooperation and her personal contributions in promoting higher education partnerships across the region.
Ms. Carlin Noelle Zita Lamagna, Deputy Director for the Office of Planning and Development and Senior Assistant Professor at AIUB, facilitated several successful engagements at the conference. AIUB signed 16 new Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and renewed 2 existing agreements with various universities. These MoUs aim to promote joint initiatives, academic exchanges, and collaborative research projects.
Furthermore, discussions on 12 more collaborations were held, which are expected to be formalized through virtual signing ceremonies soon. AIUB’s active role in this international gathering reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to global academic partnerships and innovation in higher education.
