Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat awarded ‘BAF Colour’ to different units and squadrons for their professional excellence on Wednesday, a press release of the Inter Service Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate said. The award was conferred to 25 Squadron, 201 Maintenance Unit, 203 Maintenance Unit and Aero Medical Institute of BAF at Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu in the city.
Senior air force officials led by Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Bangabandhu Air Vice Marshal M Sayed Hossain welcomed the Air Chief at the programme. During the colour award ceremony, the Chief of Air Staff witnessed the parade at the parade ground of BAF Base Bangabandhu. The parade was commanded by Wing Commander Md Masudur Rahman.
Chief of Air Staff took part in a special monajat (prayer) for safeguarding the BAF Colour. While addressing to all, Chief of Air Staff recalled the valiant contribution of the members of Bangladesh Air Force during the Liberation War. In his speech, Chief of Air Staff urged all ranks of Bangladesh Air Force to be more skilled and highly professional. He hoped that BAF will continue its operational activities both in space and beyond in future.
He also mentioned that BAF will mark its contribution to the development of Aviation Sector of Bangladesh. He thanked all members of the Squadron and Units for achieving prestigious BAF colour and advised them to uphold the honour, dignity and pride of BAF colour through the patriotism and professionalism.
Later, Chief of Air Staff signed a visitor’s book. Among others, Principal Staff Officers of BAF and other members of Bangladesh Air Force were present on the occasion. It is worth mentioning that BAF has been performing various duties at national and international arena with great reputation and efficiency. BAF Base Bangabandhu has been a regular and important contributor to all these responsibilities. In addition to the usual routine activities, the Base has been ensuring Air Defence of whole Bangladesh, providing necessary support to army, navy and other forces, participating in disaster management and assisting civil administration.
In recognition of their versatile activities, National Standard Award was conferred to Bangladesh Air Force Base Bangabandhu by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 04 December in 2016. In line with this, the said Squadron and Units of BAF were awarded with BAF Colour in recognition of their contributions to the implementation of Forces Goal-2030.
