Agro production increases in Dinajpur for incessant electricity supply

Due to uninterrupted power supply from the Barapukuria Coal-powered Thermal Power Plant in Dinajpur, the first in the northern region of the country, production in the agricultural sector has increased in 16 districts of the northern region this year.

Boro paddy cultivation has increased in 30 million hectares of land in 16 districts of northern region as power supply from Barapukuria 525 MW coal based thermal power plant in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur in northern region has continued to increase production in agriculture and industrial sector in 16 districts of northern region this year. The Barapukuria coal mine in Dinajpur was inaugurated in 1994. The first two units of the country with a capacity of 250 MW were set up on 23rd April 2003 with the coal produced from this mine. Power is supplied on demand from these two units. 9000 metric tons of coal is being spent in the fuel sector in 3 units built on 262 acres of land. On the other hand, the 3rd unit was launched in 2016 after its construction. Uninterrupted power generation from Units 2 and 3 continues. The current 3rd unit is on and power supply from thermal power plants continues despite the coal crisis.

The Barapukuria Coal Based Thermal Power Plant will continue its activities to increase power generation in the northern region for heavy industry, medium industry and future Aman season. So that there is no shortage of electricity. SM Wazed Ali Sarkar, Chief Engineer, Barapukuria Thermal Power Station, has been able to run 3 units in his efforts for power generation since joining in 2020.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set up coal-fired thermal power plants to meet the electricity demand of the country. As a result, people no longer cry for electricity.

Chinese companies and skilled engineers and workers of the thermal power plant have been working tirelessly to increase the power generation of the thermal power plant. The people of this area are getting uninterrupted electricity due to their efforts. Chief Engineer SM Wazed Ali has cordial relations with the people and officials of the present area.

Since his joining, he has been carrying out various developmental works including renovation of mosque at thermal power plant, setting up of Mujib Corner on the occasion of Bangabandhu's conditional year, construction of Shaheed Minar and he is performing martyrdom duties of honesty and devotion.
