With the slogan ‘Bangabandhu’s Contribution, Krishibid Class One’ agriculture day was celebrated at Melandha, Jamalpur on Tuesday.
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib University of Science and Technology Department of Fisheries research students and university journalists organized it.
A discussion meeting was held at Melandha Reporters' Unity on the occasion.
President of Melandah Reporters Unity-Ittefaq correspondent Md. Shah Jamal presided over it.
Kawsar Ahmed Sukarno, Mustafizur Rahman Sohag, Md. Al-Mamun,Muntasir Mahmud, Ripon Kumar Sana and others also spoke on the occasion.
The keynote speakers were Md. Al-Fahad, a research student and journalist in the Department of Fisheries at the University, mentioning the role of agriculturists in agriculture, fisheries and livestock and rural development.
It may be mentioned that on 13 February1973, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the first class status of agriculturists in a meeting at Bangabandhu Memorial premises of Bangladesh Agricultural University.
To commemorate this day, Krishibid Institution has decided to observe this day as Krishibid Day every year since 2010.
Since then, farmers of all walks of life have been observing the day every year.
