Agricultural marketing centres reopen in Chuadanga

The collection and marketing centers of agricultural products at village Joyrampur and Modna-parkrishnapur in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district has been reopened recently as farmers of the areas have been getting fair prices of their products. Agriculture department of Damurhuda are monitoring the centers. 

Agricultural products with making bundles inscribed farmers’ name and addresses are taken to the centers and sent these to wholesale markets of Dhaka, Chattogram and Khulna by trucks.The wholesalers sent the purchased products prices through Bkash or banks to the concerned farmers. 

According to sources, these programs were introduced in 2015 of the villages and continued up to 2017. For  unknown reasons these centers were remained closed. Recently collection and marketing of agricultural products are being loaded with 16 trucks daily and sent to different parts of the country. 

The agricultural products are Brinjal, Gourd, Snake Gourd, Papaya, Banana, Pumpkin, Guava, Dragon Fruit, Malta and other vegetables. 

Abdul Hannan, vegetables producer of village Joyrampur in the upazila said the selected businessmen are purchasing according to ratio of other markets.  

Another farmer Akkas Ali said they are selling higher price through the center than local markets and haats. They are getting actual prices of their products. 

Moniruzzaman, agriculture officer of Damurhuda said the farmers get their taka over bikash or bank from wholesalers.
