February 9 is the day of the much-awaited MBBS admission exam for the 2023–2024 academic year. Candidates are reminded that starting on Monday, they must download their admit cards from the admissions website.
Exam structure and subjects
There will be 100 questions on the written admission exam, each worth one mark, for a total of 100 marks. Subject distribution: English (15 marks), Biology (30 marks), Chemistry (25 marks), Physics (20 marks), and General Knowledge (10 marks) (Bangladesh History and Liberation War). For each wrong answer, a deduction of 0.25 marks will be made.
Pass criteria and seat increase
The test must be passed by candidates with a score higher than 40. A score below this cutoff will be regarded as a failure, disqualifying the student from admission. The number of MBBS seats has increased by 1030 overall, which is exciting because it means that 5,380 students can now get into government medical colleges.
Important dates and admissions
Distribution of admit cards is scheduled for February 5–7, and the admission exam is scheduled for February 9 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Notably, private medical admissions are now available to all colleges, giving students the freedom to select which one to attend.
Second-time admission cuts
A decision has been made to deduct 10 marks from applicants for admission to public and private medical and dental colleges in an effort to discourage people from trying entrance exams twice. However, as of the academic year 2023–2024, the district quota has been eliminated.
Quota allocation and district exclusion
Notably, students will have fewer opportunities in this area as the district quota, which normally allots twenty percent of the available medical seats, will not be in effect for the next academic year.
