The district administration has fixed the price to prevent upward trend of rice price in the market. In the Bogra market, fine rice should be sold at a maximum price of Tk 65 and coarse at Tk 49 at the retail level. Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Islam said that strict measures will be taken against those who will try to destabilize the market by spreading rumours.

He made this warning in a discussion aimed at preventing the rise in the price of paddy and rice and keeping the price stable in the meeting room of the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday afternoon.

Organized by District Administration and District Food Controller's Office, Bogra, Automatic and husking mill owners and importers and traders participated in the meeting.

Speakers in the meeting said that the price of rice has suddenly increased in Bogra district. An unscrupulous circle has raised the price of rice by creating rumours.

Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said that there is no crisis but dishonest traders have increased the price of rice by spreading rumours.

They have increased the price of rice without any reason to embarrass the government. In order to become millionaires in a day or two, dishonest traders have increased the price of rice by spreading rumours.

The Deputy Commissioner fixed the price of rice at mill, wholesale and retail levels after talking to everyone. Katari and special miniket/cumin rice at miller level 62 taka, wholesale level 63 taka and consumer level 65 taka; BR-28 and 49 rice Rs 52 at miller level, Rs 53 at wholesale level and Rs 54 to 55 at consumer level, Swarna-5 rice Rs 46 at miller level, Rs 47 at wholesale level and Rs 48 to 49 at consumer level and Chinigura rice at consumer level maximum 115 Price per kg is fixed at Rs.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Md Saiful Islam said that everyone knows what amount of paddy and rice is produced in Bogra.

There is no shortage of rice in Bogra. The rice produced in the district goes to different parts of the country. Additional Superintendent of Police (promoted to the post of Superintendent of Police) Motahar Hossain, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Nilufa Yasmin, Additional District Magistrate Mezhbaul Karim, District Food Controller Kazi Saifuddin, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Feroza Parveen, Assistant Director of District Consumer Protection Directorate Iftekharul, were present in the meeting. Alam Rezvi, Sadar Upazila Food Controller Monirul Haque, district administration officials and rice mill owners, wholesalers and retailers of Bogra district participated in the meeting.

ATM Aminul Islam, president of Bangladesh Auto Major and Husking Mill Owners Association Bogra, said the price of rice has been fixed at the mill, wholesale and retail levels. Everyone accepted it. However, if the price of rice increases, the production cost of rice increases, so if the price of rice increases, I will call to reconsider the price of rice.

It should be noted that although the price of paddy has decreased, there has been no impact on the Bogra rice market. The administration's operation in various godowns has increased the supply of paddy in the Bogra market and the price of paddy has reduced by up to Tk 50 per maund. Especially rice is being sold at increased prices in the retail market.

Although the price of thin variety of rice did not decrease, the price of coarse variety of rice decreased. A week ago, coarse paddy was sold at Tk 1400, but now it is being sold at Tk 1300 to Tk 1350 per head. At the wholesale level, Ranjit, Swarna and Napanchas varieties of coarse rice are being sold at Tk 45 to Tk 52 per kg. Thin varieties of rice are being sold at 68 to 70 taka, 28 varieties of rice are being sold at 56 to 60 takas, 1 to 2 takas more at the retail level.

In the current Amon season, 9 lakh tons of paddy and rice will be produced from 1 lakh 83 thousand 510 hectares of land and about 6 lakh tons of rice. Till the first week of last December, Aman paddy reached the farmer's house after paddy cutting.
