Bangladesh National Awami Party (Bangladesh NAP) has demanded the decrease of additional 60 percent public transport fare because of not maintaining health rules and carrying of excessive passengers in all public transports.

Chairman of the party Jebel Rahman Ghaani and Secretary General M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan made the demand in a joint statement on Sunday.

In accordance to the government directives, from June 1, the fare of public transport was increased by 60 percent on the condition of maintaining health rules during the Coronavirus pandemic. But, the public transports were not maintaining the health rules now a days, said the two leaders.

Moreover, all the government and the non-government offices will also be reopened  as before. So, the pressure of passengers on public transport has also been increased but the owners of the public transports have not yet reduced the fare of passengers.

The NAP leaders further said, due to Coronavirus situation, millions of people have become jobless and their income has also been reduced. In such condition, travelling to their destination by paying a higher fare has increased sufferings of the common people. They demanded immediate reduction of the increased public transport fares.
