Chittagong Port Authority has decided to levy four times additional tariff if the imported goods are not unloaded on time. Which is expected to be implemented from March 15.

Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Mohammad Omar Faruq confirmed the matter on Tuesday evening.

According to Chittagong port sources, imports of FCL (one-owner imported goods) products increased around Ramadan. Such a situation is created every year before Ramadan. Imports have already increased in various yards of the port. Therefore, the authorities have decided to reduce the container congestion in the port during the coming Ramadan and to keep the overall situation normal.

Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Mohammad Omar Faruq said the import of FCL products at the port has increased. We also urge you to release the products as soon as possible. But it has been decided to collect four times more tariff due to increase in congestion in imported goods. Which will be effective from March 15. We will reconsider the matter later if the traders unload the goods earlier.
