Acute petrol crisis pushes many pumps to shut in North Bengal

Petrol supply has been declined in eight districts of the north as the stock of petrol at the Railwayhead oil depot of   Parvatipur, Dinajpur became zero.

The daily demand for petrol at this depot is 180,000 litres. But currently, only 180,000 litres of petrol are supplied at the depot every week.

A source at the depot said that petrol was supplied to The Parvatipur Railhead Oil Depot on the road from Rashidpur gas field in the city of Sansthan.

 Three companies under petrol Bengal, Padma, Meghna and Jamuna Oil Company Limited, supplied 45,000 litres of petrol in the tank. Petrol was supplied daily at 450 petrol pumps in 8 districts, including Dinajpur in the north, Thakurgaon, Panchgarh, Nilfamari, Lalmonirhat, Kuripur, and Rangpur. The demand for petrol in the region was fullfilled by this.

Oil depot in-charge Azom Khan said there were 100 petrol lorry used to come in every week where as 30 petrol lorry are coming now.

Secretary General of the Dinajpur District Petrol Pump Owners Association Md Rowshan Ali Sarkar said the petrol crisis has been going on for almost a month at the Palpur Railhead oil depot. I got only one per cent of the petrol supply among four percent.

Recently Thakurgaon, Panchgarh and Dinajpur is facing acute petrol crisis. Meanwhilemany petrol pump has already been shut down.
