Actress Himu shrouded in mystery

Renowned small-screen Bangladeshi actress Humaira Himu has passed away at her residence in Dhaka city. She was declared dead at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital at Uttara in the city in the afternoon on Thursday (November 2, 2023). 

The news of actress Humaira Himu’s death spread suddenly on Thursday evening. Her death has created a mystery. Some said that she has committed suicide while, some others said that it is a murder. However, this issue couldn’t be clarified at the time of this report being written.

Actor Rawnak Hasan, general secretary of Actors Equity; told the media on Thursday evening that he was hurt by hearing such sudden news. “We don’t know if it was murder or unnatural death,” he said.

Humaira Nusrat Himu was brought to the Bangladesh Medical College Hospital at about 3:30 pm on Thursday and the on-duty doctor of the hospital declared her dead.

Humaira Himu has been acting for more than two decades.  She started her acting career with theater in 2006. She began acting on television with the series ‘Chayabithi’. Later, she proved her acting abilities in popular TV series namely ‘Bari Bari Sari Sari’, ‘Housefull’, ‘Gulshan Avenue’, ‘Sonaghat’, ‘Chairman Bari’, ‘Batighar’, and ‘Shonena Sey Shonena’.

However, she got widely acclaimed and brought to fame with her first film Morshedul Islam directorial ‘Amar Bondhu Rashed’. Later she concentrated more on television.

Humaira Nusrat Himu was born in Lakshmipur on November 23 in 1985. She spent her childhood in Lakshmipur and started working on stage theatre since she was a student of class two. However, she moved to Dhaka after her SSC exams in 1999. At first she joined Nagorik Natyangan and she worked with several other theater groups afterwards.
