Actor Mohiuddin Bahar dies

Actor Mohiuddin Bahar (73), popularly known for his acting and role in the magazine program ‘Ityadi’, has passed away.

He died on his way to the hospital on Monday morning.

Mohiuddin Bahar’s eldest son said Moin Uddin has confirmed this information to the media.

He said that his father had been suffering from various physical problems including heart and kidney problems for a long time. He was rushed to Ibrahim Diabetic Hospital from his home in Dayaganj as his condition deteriorated Monday morning. There the doctors pronounced him dead.

Mohiuddin Bahar is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter, as well as many relatives, admirers and fans.

He was buried at Dayaganj cemetery after Asr prayers today.

Mohiuddin Bahar was born on 27 December 1947 in Laxmipur village of Motbi union in Feni Sadar upazila. He retired in 2005 as a senior assistant secretary to the government.

Although a government employee, Mohiuddin Bahar was addicted to acting. He was associated with various drama organizations since his school days. In 1976, he joined the theatre troupe Nagorik Natya Samproday. 

In 1977, Mohiuddin Bahar made his acting debut in Bangladesh Television’s children’s series ‘Roj Roj’. After that, besides his job, he acted in many plays including Humayun Ahmed’s, Gias Uddin Selim’s.

Mohiuddin Bahar has acted in popular magazine programs for almost 26 years. Mohiuddin Bahar’s natural dialogue on the various inconsistencies of the society in the regional language of Noakhali caught everyone’s attention.
