A group of Palli Bidyut Samity’s(PBS) subscribers have demanded action against Robiul Haque, general manager (GM) of the district’s PBS for carrying out irregularities, arbitrariness and abuse of power.
They placed the demand at a media briefing at Joypurhat Press Clubon Thursday.
Abdul GoffarProdhan read out a written statement on behalf of all victim PBS customers.
He said GM Haque harassed and misbehaved with people frequently at his office and did not provide power connections.
Moreover, the GM amassed Tk150 crore depriving the people by not providing the government facilities, Prodhan alleged.
Although the government charge nothing for connection to new industrial facilities, the GM took it defying the government order, he added.
Several others, including Noorunbi of Koria village, Abdul Alim and Abu Raihan Babu of Khoshagari village of same upazila and Ershad Hossain of JoypurhatSadarupazilatold the briefing about the extra charges realized by the GM.
The victims urged the authorities concerned including the Prime Minister, and the Power Energy Minister to take legal action against GM Rabiul Haque.
