Students of Santhia Model Pilot Government High School have again started their protest against the corrupt headmaster. On the third day of the second phase of the movement which started from Sunday, the students also boycotted classes and staged human chains.
On Monday, the angry students locked the principal teacher Vijay Debnath in the office room. Later, on the request of other teachers, the students opened the lock. District Education Officer came to the school to interview the two complainant students on Monday. Muslim Uddin. Soon after he left the school, the students locked the head teacher Vijay Debnath's room.
It is known that the authorities did not take disciplinary action against the head teacher Vijay Debnath and the assistant teacher Babul Kumar Pal, who were accused of various charges including giving bad suggestions to the students, and the students again boycotted the classes and started the agitation.
According to the students, the students have been protesting against the sexual harassment and sexual harassment of two female students of the school since last May. Santhia Pilot Government High School head teacher Vijay Debnath filed a written complaint of sexual harassment by a class 10 student and assistant teacher Babur Kumar Pal by a class 9 student against the Upazila Nirbahi Officer. As the trial of the complaint was delayed, the students boycotted the court and staged a human chain and march.
Two inquiry committees were constituted to investigate the allegations. Santhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer formed a 5-member investigation committee. Santhia Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Moniruzzaman was made the head of the investigation committee. In the same incident, Pabna Deputy Commissioner formed a one-member investigation committee with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Afroza Akhtar.
The inquiry committee headed by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the complaints of the students. Based on the investigation, Santhia Upazila Executive Officer SM Jamal Ahmed sent a recommendation to the Director General of Education Department to take disciplinary action against the two teachers in the first week of June. The Education Department reinvestigated the matter.
As the complaint of the two students was proved in the investigation, the Director General of the Department of Education Professor Md. Nehal Ahmed sent a recommendation to take disciplinary action to the Secretary of the Ministry of Education on June 26. A month later, as no disciplinary action was taken against the two teachers, it was learned that the students have chosen the path of agitation again.
After conducting two classes last Sunday, the students raised various slogans against the said teachers. Establish standards for their removal and disciplinary action.
The students have given an ultimatum that they will not allow the two teachers to enter the school grounds if no legal action is taken against the characterless teachers within 7 days.
