Act as watchdogs forgetting self-interest

“I would request journalist brothers to act as 'watchdogs (observer)’. Report if you find irregularities somewhere. We will take action after investigation if we find irregularities.”
Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said this as the chief guest at the opening session of a workshop on ‘Review of the overall activities of the land ministry’ in the conference room of the land ministry at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The land minister said, “I ask my officers to work without considering self-interest. I hope you (journalists) do too. We have to work together for the country.”
“Digitalization of land management is an ongoing process. We are gradually bringing all land services under automation, as well as fine-tuning the system at the same time”, said the minister while replying to a question of a journalist.
Responding to another question on corruption, the minister said, We are taking immediate action if there is evidence of corruption, even notifying the Ministry of Public Administration, if applicable.
Additional Divisional Commissioners (Revenue), Deputy Land Reform Commissioners, Additional Deputy Commissioners (Revenue) and Land Acquisition Officers of the Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet division participated at the workshop. Various land-related issues were reviewed at the workshop, while participants presented their views thereafter.
You have to be more pro-active. My team and I are committed to making sustainable changes in ministry and leaving a legacy. I hope you will also work in your workplace in such a way that you will be remembered because of good works, said the Minister while delivering a directional speech to the participants of the workshop.
The minister warned the officials that he would not take any responsibility for anyone's irregularities.
Chairman of Land Reforms Board UmmulHasna, Additional Secretaries of the Land Ministry Md. Mujibur Rahman, Md. Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Md. Abdul Haque, Anis Mahmud were present at the workshop's inauguration event which was chaired by the Land Secretary Md. Muksodur Rahman Patwary.
