In a significant operation against organised crime, RAB-11 arrested Billal Hossain, the alleged ringleader of a notorious robbery gang, on Monday in Rupganj.
Billal, accused in at least 35 criminal cases—including murder, arms possession, robbery, and narcotics—was apprehended during a special operation in the Pithakurhi area.
Md. Shamsur Rahman, Squad Commander of RAB-11, CPSCS, Narayanganj, confirmed the arrest in an official statement.
Billal, son of Abul Hossain Montu, had long terrorised communities across Dhaka, Narayanganj, and other districts. According to RAB, he led a violent criminal network involved in armed robbery, extortion, and drug trafficking. Locals identified him as a feared figure with deep ties to organised crime.
During initial questioning, Billal reportedly admitted to his criminal activities. He faces 35 cases, including four under the Arms Act, four under the Explosives Act, and two for murder.
He has been handed over to Rupganj Police for legal proceedings.
