RAB has arrested Alamgir (40), the main accused in the case of strangulation of a young man in Fatikchhari, Chittagong over a family quarrel and giving him status on Facebook.
He was arrested during a raid in the CPAR area of Bandar Police Station on Friday.
Confirming the matter, RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) Md. Nurul Abshar said that the accused strangled Muhammad Jasim Uddin on February 14 in Nichinta village of Dhatmara union of Bhujpur police station on the charge of giving status to the opponent by referring to him as 'drug dealer' on Facebook. The victim's sister filed a murder case with the Bhujpur police station. The main accused in the case is Md. Alamgir Hossain. After the incident, Alamgir left his area and hid in different places.
He said Alamgir had admitted his involvement in the killing of Jasim Uddin. Alamgir has 1 murder case and 1 arms case against him in Bhujpur police station of Chittagong district.
He later said that he was handed over to Bhujpur police station.
