ACC sues SI for illegal assets

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against Bogura Sonatala Police Station SI Alamgir Hossain, 43, for acquiring assets outside his known income.  Sudip Kumar Chowdhury, deputy assistant director of the ACC Bogra district office, filed the case on Sunday with the permission of the ACC head office.  The accused Alamgir Hossain is the son of late Mobzel Hossain of Shaulisbala area of Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district.  He is currently living in Latifpur area of Bogra city.

 A press release issued by the Bogra District ACC office on Monday said that SI Alamgir Hossain joined the police force in 1997 as a constable.  The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) launched an investigation on the basis of information that he had acquired assets outside of knowledge income.  

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) then asked Alamgir Hossain for a statement of his assets.  He announced to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) that he has acquired ownership of his assets worth Tk 72 lakh 51 thousand 78TK.  While verifying the statement of assets, an acceptable income of Tk. 45 lakh 2 thousand 701TK was found in his name and an expenditure of about 22years, 11 lakh 65 thousand 500TK spent during the time period 1997-2019. 

As a result, his total wealth including family expenses is 84 lakh 16 thousand 578TK.  In this case, the accused Alamgir Hossain has acquired assets worth Tk 39 lakh 13 thousand 877 TK out of his known income.  Which is a punishable offense under Section 26 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004.

 Sudip Kumar Chowdhury, deputy assistant director of the ACC's Bogra district office, said a case has been filed against SI Alamgir Hossain under Section 26 (1) of the Commission Act 2004 for acquiring assets outside the known income.
