The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against the dismissed Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karan on charges of acquiring illegal assets worth Tk 395,058,35 and money laundering.
Mohammad Riazuddin, Assistant Director of Anti-Corruption Commission has enquired into the allegation and lodged the case.
The case was filed in ACC Chattogram office under Section 4 (2) of the Act, 2012, Section 5 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947 and Section 109 of the rules.
Based on the investigation report, the commission has decided to file a case against Pradeep Kumar Das (OC) and his wife Chumki Karan, Riaz Uddin Ahamed said.
He said that the investigation on Pradeep Das's family assets began in 2018. In the statement they submitted to ACC mentioned assets worth TK 4 crore. But the ACC's investigation has found assets worth around Tk 4.5 crore. There are also more assets in their name, which have no specific source of income.
“In the statementon asset disclosure, Pradeep’s family concealed information about the source of acquiring the assets that they had declared,” Riaz Uddin added.
According to the complaint, the accused misused the powers vested in each other for immoralpurposes.
The case also filed on Prevention of Money Laundering, Section 26 (2), Section, 27 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 for the offense of transferring and converting such illicit assets by acquiring them inconsistently with the known source of income through bribery and corruption.

Beside these, he has been accused in several murder cases filed by family members of victims of crossfire in Cox’s Bazar district. Meanwhile, on Sunday, a RAB investigation team visited Nilima Resort, the residence of Sinha and his party in Cox's Bazar.
