ACC sues 8 persons for issuing passport to Indian citizen

Anti-Corruption Commission in Rajshahi has filed  a case against eight persons including the Assistant Director of Rajshahi Passport Office for allegedly issuing a passport to an Indian national by concealing the police verification report. 

Mamunur Rashid, Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) headquarters who filed the case at the Rajshahi Regional Office of ACC on Thursday afternoon informed, the case has been filed against the responsible officials and staff of Rajshahi for issuing a passport to an Indian national by violating the rules.  Jahangir Alam, Deputy Director of ACC, Rajshahi Regional Office, informed eight officials and employees of Rajshahi Passport Office including Assistant Director of Rajshahi Passport Office Abzaul Hossain have been charged in the case. 

Other accused in the case have been identified as – Indian citizen Hafeez Ahmed, MLSS of passport office Ranju Lal, Office Assistant Humayun Kabir, Upper division clerk (UD Assistant) Delwar Hossain, Data Entry Operator Aslam Uddin, Ibrahim Hossain and Typist Abdul Wadud.

According to sources, in 2017, officials of Rajshahi Passport Office issued a passport to Indian citizen Hafeez Ahmed. After getting the passport Hafeez Ahmed moved to Saudi Arabia from India using Bangladeshi passport.   Since the incident occurred in Rajshahi, the case has been recorded in this office. Mamunur Rashid, Assistant Director of the ACC headquarters, is investigating the case, Jahangir Alam, DD of ACC , Rajshahi informed.
