Comilla University (CoU) has come under the scanner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) following serious allegations of corruption involving land acquisition for campus expansion and irregularities in recent recruitment activities.
On July 20, the ACC’s enforcement team, led by Assistant Director Masum Ali and Deputy Assistant Director Md Emran Khan, issued a formal letter to the university registrar requesting comprehensive documentation. The letter seeks information on how many acres of land were acquired, the process followed, the total allocation, and the amount disbursed. Additionally, the ACC has demanded all relevant records concerning the recent recruitment of 22 vacant posts across 12 categories, including job circulars, written and viva exam mark sheets.
The move was confirmed on Saturday (July 26) by CoU Registrar (Additional Charge) Professor Mohammad Anwar Hossain and ACC Comilla Deputy Director Md. Ismail Hossain. “We have received a letter from the ACC. As per instructions, we will submit the requested documents within seven working days,” said the registrar. ACC Deputy Director Ismail Hossain stated, “We received multiple complaints regarding corruption in land purchase and manpower recruitment. Accordingly, we have formed a dedicated enforcement team and requested relevant records from the university.”
The investigation signals the ACC’s increased vigilance in higher education institutions, aiming to ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical governance. As the probe progresses, stakeholders expect decisive actions to safeguard public interest and restore institutional integrity at Comilla University.
