The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) found evidence of graft and other irregularities at Jurain office of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) during an enforcement drive on Tuesday.

ACC Deputy Director Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said the commission, in its hotline-106, received complaints that DPDC meter readers via brokers were charging extra money from customers for providing different services.

Acting on the allegation, an ACC enforcement team conducted a drive at the DPDC office where they found proof of irregularities in electric meter connection and meter renewal process. Scrutinising different service-related documents, the team found evidence of graft against some meter readers and their association with brokers.

The ACC team found an illegal connection between meter reader Abu Sayeed and a broker. The commission suggested DPDC (Jurain) Executive Engineer Ruhul Amin Fakir to discharge the corrupt meter readers from their duties.

The Executive Engineer assured that he would take legal action against all irregularities and inform the ACC of it.
