ACC files charges against suspended DIG prison Partha

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday submitted chargesheet against suspended DIG (Prisons) Partha Gopal Banikin a case filed over the recovery of Tk 80 lakh from his residence in Dhaka.

The charge-sheet was submitted to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes, ACC Assistant Director MdSalahuddintold the reporters.

The court fixed August 31 to accept the chargesheet, he added. According to case statement, the suspended officialmisused his power and amassed Tk 80 lakh illegally bay carrying out corruption, irregularities and briberies.

He then hidmoney at his residence in a bid to laundering it abroad.

On July 28, 2019, ACC arrested Partha, the DIG prisons of Sylhet Central Jail, on charges of irregularities and corruption after Tk 80 lakh was recovered during a raid at his residence in BhooterGoli of Dhanmondi in the capital.

The graft watchdog filed a case with its integrated district office 1 in Dhaka on the following day.
