Academia high achievers award ceremony held at IUB

Students of Academia School were awarded for securing excellent results in ‘O’ & ‘A’ Level exams. Dr Hasan Mahmud, MP, minister for the Ministry of Information was the chief guest of the ceremony and distributed prizes among the students that took place on Tuesday at Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) campus in the capital.

Professor Milan Pagon, vice chancellor (acting), IUB and Saidur Rahman, country manager, Pearson, Edexcel were present as special guests, spoke on the occasion and distributed awards among the successful students. Along with them Sarwat Zeb, chairperson, Academia; Kutub Uddin, managing director, Academia; Dr M Mahabubul Haq, principal, Academia and Raunaque Alamgir, vice principal, Academia were also present.

Dr Hasan Mahmud stated that the entire world has now become a global village. Hence, each student should turn out to be a ‘world-citizen’ in terms of possessing ingenious skills, knowledge, expertise and most importantly, the humanity. They will also have to be well equipped in order to cope with 4th industrial revolution and its upcoming changes.

At the end of the programme Dr Mahmud visited IUB library and different labs. Afterwards, the minister sat with IUB Trustees and high officials and discussed various aspects of higher education developed and assured to provide all possible cooperation to IUB.

Members of the Board of Trustees of IUB, Deans, senior members of the faculty and administration, other dignitaries, parents and guardians and large number of students attended the event.
