Abu Sir no more

Renowned teacher and freedom fighter of Barisal Sadar area, Abual Islam Khan, widely known as 'Abu Sir', died on Monday morning at ICU of Dhaka medical College and Hospital in capital. He was 80. Abu Sir was admitted to DMCH on September 9 with neurological criticalities. Later he faced multi-organ dysfunction and finally became defeated to life early on Monday. Abual Islam Khan left his four sons, two daughters, grandchildren and a host of students and well wishers to mourn his death. 

Mr. Khan is founder of 'Charbaria High School', an academic institution in Charbaria village in Barisal, where he served till the age of his retirement. The brave freedom fighter, Abu Sir became popular in the locality for his dedication and contribution for promoting education and culture, also extending cooperation to the poor students for continuing their education. 

All of the six son and daughter of Abual Islam Khan had studied in the University of Dhaka and now are well-provided in different trend of professions in public and private sector.   His eldest son, Tariqul Islam Khan is Deputy Secretary of the government, and now serving as the Deputy Director, BG Press. First namaj e janaja of Mr. Khan was held at the BG Press complex at 11.30 am Monday, later the body was taken to his village home, Barishal. The body will be buried at his family graveyard after namaj e janaja in the morning on Tuesday.
