Abritti Academy celebrates 21st founding anniversary

Recitation troupe Abritti Academy celebrated its 21st founding anniversary organising a two-day recitation festival on Thursday and Friday at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Sufia Kamal National Public Library.

TSC-based Abritti Academy began its journey on August 28, 1998. The troupe has produced 59 poetry products till date.

The festival titled ‘Protishthar 21 Bochhor Abbriti Utsab’ featured staging of poetry productions, discussion, awards ceremony and others.

Information minister Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest, while eminent recitation artiste Ahkam Ullah and Dhaka University Sanskrit department professor Niranjan Adhikari were present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony, presided over by Abritti Academy director Mrinmoy Mizan.

Following the discussion, the organisers honoured Professor Niranjan Adhikari for his contribution to recitation scene.

Information minister Hasan Mahmud handed over a crest and a cheque of TK 10,000 to Adhikari.

Following the awards ceremony, Abbriti Academy artistes performed recitation production titled ‘Ruddhoshasher Dingulo’, which has been compiled and directed by Dilshad Jahan Piuly.

The production highlighted the mass killings by Pakistani occupation forces on the night of March 25 in 1971.  

Mrinmoy Mizan, Masud Ahmed, Sarmin islam Jui, Dilsad Jahan Puli, Samim Ahsan, Ahmed Shubro and others performed in the production.

On Friday, the academy staged another poetry production titled ‘Brishchik Lagna’. It has been compiled and directed by Mrinmoy Mizan.
