ABF holds training course on Safeguarding, PSEA

Access Bangladesh Foundation in collaboration with PSEA Network and with the support of Interagency PSEA Community Outreach and Communication Fund organized a day-long training on “Safeguarding and PSEA” on Saturday at RDRS Rangpur, Bangladesh.

Albert Mollah, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Access Bangladesh Foundation delivered address of welcome. He spoke about the importance of Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and addressing safeguarding issues in humanitarian interventions. The training was aimed to enhance knowledge, skills and attitudes of the humanitarian aid workers and leaders of the organizations of persons with disabilities. Md.Shohel Rana facilitated the sessions on SEA and highlighted on defining the sexual misconduct including sexual exploitation, abuse and sexual harassment. 

He also addressedthe role, responsibilities, and options for humanitarian aid workers when sexual misconduct occurs concentrating on immediate referrals, report, and other required support to the survivor, referrals for investigation and six core principles around SEA.

Albert Mollah highlighted the safeguarding aspect in the session which includes definition of safeguarding, its importance, defining vulnerable groups at risks, preventive measures, disability-inclusive safeguarding procedures, accessible reporting and responding mechanisms. 

A total of 24 participants took part in the training from various Organizations of Persons with Disabilities(OPDs), women OPD network, National and Local NGOs working in Rangpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Dinajpur district of Bangladesh.
