Abahani women maintain victory run

Title contenders, the Abahani Limited women's cricket team, maintained their winning streak in the Dhaka Women's Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at Ground 1, BKSP, Savar on Friday.

Abahani secured a six-wicket victory over the Khalaghar Shamaj Kalyan Shamity (KSKS) Women's Cricket Team.

KSKS opted to bat first after winning the toss.

Sanjida Islam's side were bowled out for 140 runs from 48.1 overs. Openers Sumi Akter (30) and middle-order batter Taj (45) were the major contributors to their score. Six KSKS batters failed to reach double figures during the innings. 

They lost their first three wickets with just 62 runs on the board. Taj and Nusrat Jahan added a 52-run partnership off 73 balls for the fourth wicket. 

After losing four wickets for 111 runs in 36.4 overs, Khalaghar managed another 29 runs from 69 balls before losing their remaining wickets.

Nahida Akhter, Abahani's slow left-arm orthodox bowler, was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets for just 14 runs. 

Right-arm medium pacer Jahanara Alam also chipped in with two wickets, conceding 31 runs.

Chasing a target of 141 runs, the Dhanmondi outfit reached their target with four wickets remaining in 25.3 overs. 

Opener Dilara Dola struck a brisk 30 runs off 23 balls, including two fours and three sixes. Middle-order batter Sarmin Sultana remained unbeaten on 46 runs from 57 balls, her knock including two boundaries and a six.

Nuzhat Sabah Firdaus and Nusrat Jahan, KSKS's two right-arm off-break bowlers, took two wickets apiece, conceding 25 and 17 runs respectively.
