Abahani Limited failed to cross the Mohun Bagan Super Giant hurdle in the AFC Cup when they suffered 3-1 defeat in their second round match in Kolkata on Tuesday.
It was third defeat of Abahani Limited to Mohun Bagan by same margin (3-1) in the same competition of the AFC when in their previous three times meeting Abahani could manage a 1-1 draw in one match and suffered 3-1 defeat in two matches.
However, on the day Abahani despite making an impressive start with 1-0 lead inside 17 minutes of the game, failed to keep up the momentum when the hosts Mohuna Bagan had two gifted goals to down the visitors.
Mohun Bagan equalized the margin through their Australian World Cupper (Qatar 2022) Jesson Cummins converting a penalty when Abahani defender Shushanto Tripura committed a foul inside the box on 35th (1-1).
