Abahani Limited, who are preparing to go Kolkata to play the second phase of the AFC Cup after crossing the first hurdle defeating Club Eagle of Maldives, yet to get Indian visa.
Abahani after winning their preliminary match against Club Eagle of Maldives will play the second phase match of the AFC Cup against Mohun Bagan, the Indian Super League champions, to take place on August 22.
All the players and the related players of Abahani submitted their visa applications on Thursday, right after the day of winning their preliminary stage match against Club Eagle of Maldives in Sylhet on Wednesday.
Abahani manager Satiyajit das Rupu informed that after having the visas, they would manage Air Tickets to fly by today or tomorrow for Kolkata, where they will take on the Indian giants Mohun Bagan.
Meanwhile Abahani Limited, the most successful team in the Bangladesh Premier League football specially, after the professional league started here in the country’s football, they won the title for highest six times.
However, Abahani have also the credit to play in the AFC competitions for so many occasions since 1985 and they had the best success in 2019 when they reached into the inter-regional semifinal.
Abahani defeated Minarva Club of India in home and away matches to move into the inter-regional semifinal while in the semifinal they defeated once title holders’ of the AFC Cup, the North Korean club April 25 by 4-3 at home ground.
However, in 2019 also Abahani had to face so many difficulties to travel India with the visa problem.
