Abahani earn full points, Rahmatganj halt MSC

Rahmatganj MFS remained unbeaten in the Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League football when they halt Mohammedan Sporting Club by 1-1 on Friday at the Bir Sreshtha Fl. Lt. Mautiur Rahman Stadiums Munshiganj.

In the day’s other match of the league at the Muktijuddho Smiriti Stadium, Rajshahi, Abahani Limited secured their fourth win defeating Brother Union by 3-2. 

Though, six times champions, four times in a row Abahani Limited have been struggling this time being at the third position with three wins, one draw and a defeat.

The traditional Sky-Blue, after suffering 0-2 defeat at the hands of the defending champions Bashundhara Kings in their third match, returned to winning ways with 3-0 victory in their previous match over the Port City outfit Chittagong Abahani Limited and kept their drive in three match at a stretch with defeating Brothers Union on Friday.  

Abahani led the first half by 2-0 with Fernandes opened the scoring inside seven minutes to make the breakthrough at the early stage and Washington Brandoa doubled the advantage of opening 45 minutes encounter.

The Brazilian forward struck on 38th minute to give Abahani 2-0 lead before the break.

Abahani, who looked get back their tempo made the tally 3-0 inside three minutes of starting the second half when Stewart notched the third on 48th minute. 

Brothers Union, who are the bottom sides of 10-team league with managing only three points from six outings, reduced two with Insan Hussen struck on 59th and 90th minute for the Gopibag outfit (3-2).

However, in Munshiganj, Rahmatganj forced the terrific Mohammedan Sporting Club to share points with 1-1 draw when a late penalty from Muzaffarov helped the Black and White at least to earn a point.  

The Old Dhaka outfit remained unbeaten for record six matches in a row after being promoted into the topflight domestic competition, Bangladesh Premier League Football in 2014 season.

On the other hand, Mohammedan Sporting Club, who look to regain their glory thru winning the Independence Cup after their long struggle, have been closely following the league leaders Bashundhara Kings. 

But one of the Dhaka giants could not keep up their stunning victory over the reigning champions and the top favourites among the title contenders Bashundhara Kings in the previous match.

Dawda Ceesay led Rahmatganj on  27 and kept their lead up to 86th minute and when they (Rahmatganj) were almost getting ready to celebrate their first win, Muzaffarov just salvaged Mohammedan with his 86th minute strike when he converted a penalty 1-1.
