Alhaj Ahed Ali Biswas Manob Kollan Trust or AB Trust has been working for helpless people and spreading the light of education in rural areas of the country.
The AB Trust, which is based in Pabna, is a non-profitable and non-government voluntary organization that was founded by some volunteers, also residents of Pabna.
The voluntary organization which was founded in 1988 has been working for the social and economic development of marginal and underprivileged people in rural Bangladesh.
Although in the beginning, the activity of the AB Trust was limited to only a few social and educational activities but in course of time, its activities have been expanded since 2001 as the organization has been running various activities for poverty alleviation, rehabilitation, and eliminating unemployment.
The organization has already run activities including repairing roads and paths on its own initiative, tree plantation, setting up tubewell at the premises of poor people for safe drinking water, construction of infrastructure for rehabilitation of flood-affected people and poor people, distributing rickshaw-vans for poor unemployed people, construction of prayer houses, employment of poor people, and sets up libraries in the rural areas.
At the same time, the AB Trust also works for gender equality, education, women empowerment, the welfare of the workers, health and sanitation activities and working for environmental protection and agricultural development, and for the rehabilitation of the physically disabled persons. At present, the Alhaj Ahed Ali Biswas Manob Kollan Trust or AB Trust runs two primary schools, a secondary school, a technical institute, an agriculture diploma institute, a degree college, and one qaumi madrasah, and an orphanage. At least 2,000 students are studying in educational institutions.
The organization has provided 5.50 acres of land in the Puran Kutipara area in Pabna Paurashava to establish educational institutions for the poor people in 2001. It has also provided 40 acres of land in the Bhobanipur area (Char area) which is about 7 kilometers away from Pabna town.
This land is provided to establish educational institutions, orphanage, hospitals, religious institutions, graveyards, and playgrounds. The AB Trust also conducts medical camps in various places in the Pabna district and its surrounding areas.
The medical camps run through our medical team, comprised of three male and three female doctors and six nurses. The team provides basic health check-ups and provides medicines free of cost to the patients and also conducts one-to-one consultations on health-related matters and group sessions creating awareness for health, nutrition, safe delivery, and other health-related issues.
Especially, the organization played a good role during the coronavirus pandemic as it provided oxygen cylinders to corona patients, provided necessary medicines, and necessary other assistance. They also distributed food among the helpless people during the pandemic.
The AB Trust has is also working to set up some more projects of setting up employment-oriented institutions in a bid to remove unemployment.
