Aaron Wan-Bissaka underwent a medical at Carrington yesterday ahead of being officially confirmed as Manchester United’s second signing of the summer, report agencies.

The Crystal Palace right back travelled to Manchester on Wednesday after returning from the under 21 European Championships with England.

He has been given permission to complete the formalities of his move after a deal worth £50m was struck on Tuesday .

The 21-year-old was put up at the Lowry Hotel overnight, where Jose Mourinho lived during his two-and-a-half-year spell as manager.

He put pen to paper on a five-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months after United agreed to pay £45m up-front, plus £5m in performance-related add-ons.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was determined to secure the Wan-Bissaka deal before his squad begin pre-season training on Monday. And after weeks of talks between United’s chief negotiator Matt Judge and Palace, the deadlock was finally broken, with the starlet becoming the most expensive defender in the history of Old Trafford.

Wan-Bissaka joins Daniel James as United’s only new arrivals so far this summer – but Solskjaer hopes to make as many as three more additions before his squad fly out to Australia at the end of next week.
