AAB joins hands with EBL to fight Covid

ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) signed an MoU with Eastern Bank Ltd. (EBL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme to roll out ‘Multi-Purpose Cash Grant’ activity for a segment  of coronavirus affected populations in the Rajshahi and Khulna division. 

The signing of MoU took place  on Thursday at the bank's head office in the capital.  

As per the MoU, ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB) will distribute the ‘Multi-Purpose Cash Grant’ ( MPCG) to marginalised and vulnerable sex workers and acid survivors in Khulna and Rajshahi Division under its Local Rights Programme (LRP) with assistance from the EBL. 

EBL has so far contributed Tk 2 crore 35 lac as financial aid to several organisations to fight against COVID-19 Pandemic. 

Farah Kabir, Country Director, ActionAid Bangladesh, Md. Rafiqul Islam ACA, Head of Finance and Maruf Mohammad Shehab, Head of Fundraising of AAB, Ziaul Karim, Head of Communications and External Affairs, EBL, Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, Company Secretary and Md. Maskur Reza, Head of Business Information Systems of EBL were also present among others. 

Since its inception in 1986, ActionAid Bangladesh is consistently working in solidarity with the vulnerable and marginalised communities in rural and urban areas to uphold their rights and dignity. 

Under this ‘Multi-Purpose Cash Grant’ support, a total of 129 vulnerable sex workers in BagherhatSadar, Mongla, and Khulna Sadar, who were not covered by the country’s safety net allocation amidst COVID-19, will be supported.
