It’s more than shocking and simply shameful for the Tigers to suffer series defeat to United Arab Emirates when it looked both their bowlers and the batters were underdog.
It was not at all a coincidence but a huge disaster for the Tigers of going down to a team like UAE in two successive matches.
This time not only batters or bowlers, Tigers were despondently letdown in the both departments, as they had to see the big blow.
UAE after bowling first restricted Bangladesh for 162 runs and chased down the target with seven wickets in hand to clinch the series 2-1. It is UAE's second T20I series win against a Full Member team, having beaten Ireland by the same margin in 2021.
If we have a look to the Tigers’ batters, they had the opportunity to bat first, as UAE decided to field after winning the toss.
But it was unbelievable that the Tigers batters displayed more than a dismal show when their disaster started right from the first ball of the second over with losing the opener Pervej Emon for a duck and the scoreboard was reading only 10 runs.
Tigers tumbled to three down for 31 when two wickets had gone on 31. Rest of the time batters were getting out in regular intervals. At one stage, Tigers reduced to 84 for seven wickets and it was hard to believe that they could cross the 100 runs mark.
However, Jaker Ali batting as number sixth bat struck a couple of sixes to get Bangladesh past the 100-run mark with scoring 41 off 34 balls.
Number 10 and 11th bats Mahmudul Hasan and Shoriful Islam played two rapid innings of 15-ball 26 and 16 from seven deliveries respectively, as Bangladesh could make a respectable total. Although it was not enough to win the match as the Bangladesh’s bowlers’s performances were not at all up to the mark, as the UAE batters chased target with five balls left to play and seven wickets in hands.
Top order batters of Bangladesh fully failed to handle the right arm orthodox bowler Haider Ali, who actually did the main damage. Haider hit back to back to pick up the Tigers’ three valuable wickets – Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy and Mahedi Hasan.
Haider, in his devastating four overs spells, conceded only seven runs including a maiden to claim three wickets with sending back Litton for 14, Towhid for a duck and Mahedi for only two runs.
Tigers’ bowlers after making the first breakthrough on UAE’s 14 runs with taking the danger man Mohammad Waseem (54-ball 100 runs in the first match and 82 off 42 balls), could not make further impact.
Despite losing the wicket of Waseem, UAE crossed the 50 runs mark in the powerplay when Bangladesh bowlers then could take only two more wickets but could not halt the hosts winning streak.
