A huge response to ‘Corona Assistance Fund’ in Cox’s Bazar

Condition of hundreds of daily wage earners in Cox's Bazar is learnt to be miserable they remained trapped inside their houses due to 'lockdown' of the town to check the spread of coronavirus. 

Low-income group people including day labourers, fishermen, factory workers and hotel workers were facing an acute crisis of food since their income source remained suspended for days. They are learnt to spend an inhuman life at their houses. 

Meanwhile, some people including Cox's Bazar district and police administration, journalists and local political leaders have 

taken up a humanitarian step to assist the financially fragile, poor and distressed families of the district. 

Headed by Additional Superin­tendent of Police of Cox's Bazar Iqbal Hossain, the humanitarian team consists of Senior Reporter Tofael Ahmed, Jouranalist Jahid Sarwar Sohel, district Jubo League President and the General Secretary Sohel Ahmed Bahadur and Shahidul Haque Sohel respectively, Journalist Imrul Kayes, Jubo League leaders Kutub Uddin  and AEM Nazrul  Islam  was trying to collect fund for assisting the poor and distressed people for last one week. 

The team members were calling upon the well off people to donate fund for assisting the poor. However, the team members were getting a huge response from the rich and  well off people of the district.

Imrul Kayes, Co-ordinator of Corona Assistance Fund in Cox's bazar informed, they published notices on the Facebook calling well off people of the district to donate money to help the distressed people trapped at their houses and got a tremendous response. he said, Taka 800,000 was deposited at the fund till last Monday. 

Iqbal Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police informed, already a lost of distressed people has been prepared and foods and essentials have been purchased and those are being distributed in phases to the distressed people.
