Dwip Gallery is organising ‘Momentum’ a solo art exhibition by Shamset Tabrejee today, July 27, 2019, curated by Mustafa Zaman. The artist is well known as a poet—an artist of words. ‘Udvastu Chirkut’, ‘Amro Kanone Mabhoi Koler Gan, ‘Osru Movaroj ‘Muhurtoma’ etc. are some of his poetry collections’ name.
This poet, seems, not satisfied only within the play with words. ‘180 Degrees’ would like to present Tabrejee’s poetry with colours at his art exhibition. Since it would be a comprehensive showcasing of his works, with a selection of paintings from recently produced works determining the show’s final character, I would like to ensure it to be an impactful event.
Shamset Tabrejee's drawings and paintings, woven from the artists gestures and the material's traces, become kind of a vivid matrix, giving birth to shape and figure now and then (triggering the viewer's imagination) and, at the same time, taking it all back into the void of it’s diffuse oneness.
Pre-eminent artist Monirul Islam, poet Mashrur Arefin, managing director of the City Bank Ltd, artist Shishir Bhattacharjee and poet Sazzad Sharif will be present as guests at the opening of the exhibition, organised by 180 Degrees, at 5:00pm.
The exhibition will remain open till August 22, 2019.
