The government has enrolled more 982 technical and Madrasah educational institutions for Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme amid ongoing holiday across the country.
In this regard, a circular signed by Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, Deputy Secretary, Technical and Madrasah Department, Ministry of Education, has been issued on Thursday following the President’s order.
According to the list, 324 Dakhil Madrasahs, 119 Alim Madrasahs, 34 Fazil l Madrasahs, 22 Kamil Madrasahs, and 60 Diploma in Agriculture institutions, 263 BM level institutions and 160 SSC Vocational and Dakhil Vocational level institutions have been registered for the scheme.
Earlier on Wednesday, a total of 1,633 educational institutions have received the good news of inclusion in the Monthly Payment Order (MPO).
The finalized educational institutions are 430 at low-secondary level, 92 at higher secondary (college) level, 991 at secondary level, 52 at Bachelor (Pass) level and 68 at higher secondary (school and college) level.
The Secondary and Higher Education Division also directed the Directorate General of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) to allocate 'MPO Salary Codes' to the newly announced MPO included educational institutions.
As the news spread on Wednesday evening, several thousands of teachers and employees of the MPO included educational institutions expressed their happiness and profound gratitude to the government.
The teachers and employees of these educational institutions will receive their salaries and allowances from July 1, 2019, the circular also reads.
MPO is the government's share in the payroll of the non-government educational institutions. Under the scheme, the government gives 100 per cent basic salaries to the teachers of non-government schools. The teachers also get a lump sum amount as other allowances from the MPO.
As per rules, the educational institutions first come under MPO facilities and then the government enlists the teachers in the payroll. Currently, more than four lakh teachers and employees of 26,340 secondary schools, colleges, madrasahs and technical institutions are enjoying the benefit. According to an education ministry source, total Tk 1,147 crore has been allocated for the MPO scheme in 2019-20 FY (fiscal year).
