96,221 patients recover from Covid-19 so far in Rajshahi

With the healing of eight more patients from Covid-19 on Friday, the total recovery count in Rajshahi division rose to 96,221 since the pandemic began in March last year. One more person has tested positive for the deadly virus in Joypurhat district of the division on the day, raising the caseload to 99,799.

 The new positive case is showing a significant falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 10, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health, said.

 The death toll remained steady at 1,689, including 686 in Bogura, 326 in Rajshahi with 208 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was reported during the last 24 hours, he said. Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 23,194 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 19,934 have been released.

Meanwhile, none more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while eight others were released from isolation during the same period. With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 28,368 in Rajshahi including 22,923 in its city, 5,687 in Chapainawabganj, 6,460 in Naogaon, 8,438 in Natore, 4,752 in Joypurhat, 21,808 in Bogura, 11,439 in Sirajganj and 12,847 in Pabna.

A total of 1,15,193 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly Covid-19. Of them, 1,14,168 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
