With the healing of eight more patients from Covid-19 on Monday, the total recovery count in Rajshahi division rose to 96,177 since the pandemic began in March last year.
Thirteen more people have tested positive for the deadly virus in six districts of the division on the day, raising the caseload to 99,760.
The new positive cases are showing a falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 22, Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health, said. The death toll remained steady at 1,688, including 686 in Bogura, 326 in Rajshahi with 208 in its city and 175 in Natore as no new fatality was reported during the last 24 hours, he said.
Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under treatment while 23,182 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 19,910 have been released.
Meanwhile, seventeen more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while twenty-five others were released from isolation during the same period.
Of the new thirteen positive cases, five were detected in Rajshahi city, followed by two each in Natore, Joypurhat and Bogura and one each in Sirajganj and Pabna districts. With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 28,353 in Rajshahi including 22,908 in its city, 5,687 in Chapainawabganj, 6,459 in Naogaon, 8,435 in Natore, 4,749 in Joypurhat, 21,802 in Bogura, 11,436 in Sirajganj and 12,839 in Pabna.
A total of 1,15,084 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly Covid-19.
Of them, 1,14,105 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
