A court in Naogaon on Tuesday afternoon awarded punishment of various terms to nine persons including the chairman Monjur Alam of Raigaon Union Parishad of Mohadevpur upazila under Naogaon district for their involvement in ransack, looting of shop and assaulting people. The chairman was awarded one year of imprisonment while eight other accused of the case were awarded three months of imprisonment each in the case.
Saiful Islam, Judge of Juidicila Magistrate Court-5 pronounced the judgement in a crowded court. Court sources informed, a person named Dilip Kumar Saha in 2017 complained to the Deputy Commissioner of Naogaon of realising excessive toll from sacrificial animals at Matajihat by some vested quarters supported by local UP Chairman. The incident enraged Chairman Monjur Alam and his supporters who on September-1,2017 attacked Dilip Kumar and ransacked his hotel 'Shuvojit Hotel and Mistanno Bhander' and looted goods from the hotel. Dilip Kumar filed a case with the local police station the same day accusing nine persons including Chairman Mo njur Alam.
After submission of the enquiry report, the hearing of the case started on Febrauray-14 last year and after reviewing all reports and hearing, the learned Judge Saiful Islam awarded Chairman Monjur Alam one year of non-rigorous imprisonment and three months of Non-rigorous imprisonment for eight of his accomplishes including his three brothers Sultan Mahmud, Badiul Alam and Shah Alam.
