Ishwardi police on Tuesday night raided the Darinaricha area of Pabna's Ishwardi town and arrested nine drug dealers. Police have recovered 1,200 litres of distilled liquor worth around Tk 3 lakh.
The arrested 9 drug dealers are, Biplob Das (29) of Schoolpara area of Ishwardi town, Subhash Kumar Banshphor (28) of Darinaricha area, Md. Sohel Of Shershah road (30), Jumrati (40) of Fateh Mohammadpur, Raju (30) of New Colony, Sahabul (30) of Mazdia Barapara of Sara Union, Chanchal (27) of Eidgah Road, Russell Hossain (32) of Kacharipara and Helal Uddin (26) of Salimpur Union.
According to Ishwardi police, these drug dealers had been selling drugs including distilled liquor in the area for a long time. Police conducted a raid at Darinaricha Sweeper Colony from 9pm on Tuesday. Police arrested nine drug dealers along with 1,200 litres of distilled liquor in Hatena during the operation. A large number of police took part in the operation.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station Sheikh Nasir Uddin said there would be nothing to buy or sell drugs in Ishwardi. The drug business will not be allowed to continue anywhere. The campaign will continue. He said the arrested nine drug dealers were sent to jail through a Pabna court on Wednesday after filing a case under the Narcotics Act.
