9 Covid deaths in 24 hrs

Bangladesh registered nine more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths has reached to 27,814 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 278 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,567,417, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

For the latest data, the current positivity rate stands 1.85 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 15.36 percent. In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the nine deceased, six were men, and three were women. Of the deceased, two each were from Dhaka, Khulna and Rajshahi. Besides, one each was from Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh.

A total of 15,042 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 294 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,530,941people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.67 percent. As of Saturday 4,955,900 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 243,867,066 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
