Kishoreganj Police on Thursday submitted chargesheet against nine people, including driver Nuruzzaman and assistant Lalan Mia of Swarnalata Paribahan, in a case filed over killing nurse Shahinur Akter Tania after rape in a running bus.
Kishoreganj Police Super Mashrukur Rahman Khaled confirmed the matter at a press briefing on Thursday. He said that Investigation officer of the case OC (investigation) Sarwar Jahan submitted the chargesheet to the court of Kishoreganj's Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Al Mamun.
Among the accused, police have arrested six persons and three have remained absconding. The accused are bus driver Nuruzzaman Nuru, his assistants Lalan Mia, Al Amin, Rafikul Islam Rafik, Khokon Mia and Bakul, bus owners Md Al Mamun and Borhan and 'Swarnalata Paribahan Managing Director Parvej Sarkar Pavel.
Victim Shahinur Aktar Tania’s father filed a case with Bazitpur Police Station.
According to the case statement, Tania, a nurse of Ibn Sina Hospital in Dhaka, was going to her village from Mohakhali Bus stand boarded by 'Swarnalata Paribahan' on May 6. When the bus reached Ujanpur in Katiadi, other passengers except Tania got down from the bus around 9:30pm. Later, the driver and his helper violated the girl in the moving bus and strangled her with her scarf before throwing the body out of the vehicle at Gazaria near Bajitpur upazila. Locals spotted the victim lying on the road and took her to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared her dead around 10:45pm.
